Forums are a good method of having free and open discussions. They include users’ questions, comparisons, polls and debates. Still, at times on mainly debatable topics unsocial behavior can occur. Discussions often go into several distinct sections as people probe each others sources, opinions, as subjects are often composed in an individuals point of view. Even though every now and then peoples replies are ambiguous, a decent amount of information can be gained as there are plenty of experts that advise on forums also.
Administrators or moderator
A forum administrator is an user that helps keep the forum free from spam, improper posts and obscenity. They own the rights to maneuver and erase posts, and to block visitors.
Thread
A thread just means a catagory. These are usually shown from oldest to earliest. Mainly when a person posts on a thread it will move to the beginning. This is called bumping.
Private message (PM)
Most forums allow PMs to be forwarded to visitors. There are regularly used for private conversations and make it easier for people to make friends on the forum.
BB code and HTML Code
Some forums permit the the ability to use HTML and BB code. BB code can be used to alter text by altering it to bold, changing it to underlined, changing it into a link etc.
Emotions
These are characters used to show emotion. Sometimes text representations can be entered. For example,

Polls
Many forums allow the the ability to use opinion polls. Polls allow users to vote their point of view and the results are commonly displayed in a chart.
Guest
A guest is a person that has not registered to the forum, They can view posts. Anyhow, most forums don’t allow guests to make posts.
Troll
A forum troll is a member that makes irrelevant posts and writes things to annoy other forum users. They have no regard one bit for forum rules. All they do is annoy other visitors and they mainly get blocked by the forum moderator.
Sock puppet
A sock puppet is a person who signs up for at least two accounts on the same forum and use the alternative accounts to agree with himself or herself and back up their points. They are every so often found out when an IP check is performed on their account.
Spamming
Regularly people use forums to advertise products or services. When they add not a thing to the forum but just post irrelevant hyperlinks and posts then they are just a spammer. Spamming is routinely done with automated software called spam bots.
Text censoring
Some forums use a word censoring practice. It simply rejects posts which use specific words. They use this to try and foil vulgar language or to make it harder for spammers. Often bad-mannered words are just replaced by asterisks.
Flame wars
When a thread has become filled with spam or people disrespecting others, it’s classed as a flame war. Flaming is going out of topic or abusing individuals, rather than adding to the forum. Political and religious sections are likely to become flame wars. At times topics become locked to prevent flame wars.
